It happened around 1:30 p.m. at the branch located on the 1700 block of Market Street.
Police say the man gave a teller a note saying he had a bomb. He was given an undetermined amount of cash, then fled.
At approximately 1:40 PM yesterday, an unidentified male entered the Wachovia Bank branch and verbally threatened an employee, indicating that he had a bomb. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the subject fled the area of the bank on foot in an unknown direction. There were no injuries.
The subject is described as:
- a black male
- 25 to 30 years old
- 5'8" to 5'9" tall
- medium build
- dark complexion
- a mustache and long sideburns
- wearing a red and white baseball cap with a black bill and a logo on the front, and a black hooded sweatshirt
The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. He was last seen on foot heading toward Chestnut St. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at (215) 418-4000 or the Philadelphia Police Department. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
