Bucks Co. "meat thief" arrested

SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. - December 4, 2009

Anthony Gisondi, 43, of Philadelphia, was arrested Thursday after, police say, tipsters saw his picture on TV.

The meat has not been recovered. Investigators believe Gisondi was involved in a resale operation.

He faces three first-degree misdemeanor charges. He could spend up to five years in prison.

Images of Gisondi were captured at one of the three Bucks County grocery stores that were targeted in late November.

Police say Gisondi would load his cart with hundreds of dollars worth of turkeys and hams, then bolt without paying.

Stores that have been targeted include the Giant on Second Street Pike in Upper Southampton, the Acme on Street Road in Feasterville and the nearby Genuardi's on Bustleton Pike.
