Now on the Net: Online dating sites

Google Docs

Usually when you need to work on a document with other people you send it as an attachment. Well there can be problems with that: sometimes the attachments are too big, sometimes you lose track of which version is the most updated, sometimes the attachment won't even open.

Well, Google Docs has come up with a solution for that. It creates a "home" for the documents on the internet, meaning it gives the document, presentation or spreadsheet its own website so you or others can edit documents in real time.

Here's how it works:

In the upper left hand corner, click on documents. You can either create the document on through Gmail or upload one from your computer.

Google then transforms the offline document into an online version. Now, click share and insert email addresses and click on invite collaborators.

Google sends a secure link to document to the addresses included. When any one of the collaborators clicks on the link, they can edit the document online which means all the other collaborators see the changes immediately so there aren't fifty different versions of the document in the form of different attachments. Social Network Consolidation

Speaking of making things easier, check out Brizzly.com.

This is a new free web based app that provides a single window into all the different social networks you use like Facebook and twitter. It's mantra is 'faster, better, more open.'

It simplifies your browsing and updating experience, while adding a few nifty extras. Like organizing the people you follow online into groups and expands pictures, links, and videos.

Other online dating sites

The online dating world has also found a way to streamline. If sites like eHarmony and Match.com seem too massive and overwhelming, maybe you'd be willing to try a more specific site geared towards your particular interests in life and believe me there are no interests too specific or too odd.

Check out trekpassions.com. This is a site that will hook you up with fellow trekies. Love your cat? Then head to PURRsonals.com. Pun intended. And if you believe Revenge of the Nerds got short changed in the '84 Oscars then Geek2geek.com may be your own personal cupid.
