Missing moon rocks weren't really missing

HONOLULU (AP) - January 12, 2010

Those missing moon rocks aren't missing anymore.

Rare rocks from the Apollo 11 and Apollo 17 missions had been given to the people of Hawaii during the Nixon administration.

But officials lost track of the priceless bits of space history.

Now, a spokesman for Gov. Linda Lingle says the rocks were never really missing.

They were locked safely in a cabinet, but no one could remember which

cabinet.

The moon rocks were found during a routine inventory.

Officials say the moon rocks will likely be put on public display.
