FBI steps up search for suspect Gill

UPPER DUBLIN, Pa. - January 20, 2010

Now, the FBI tells us Gill is a bank robber, but he's also so much more. Investigators think Gill was involved in other crimes, stole a van and now, police say, he's stabbed two people and nearly killed one of them.

Gill, 33, has reportedly said that he will not be taken alive by cops. Gill's last known address was the 5000 block of Homestead Street in Northeast Philadelphia.

"William Gill is a man who, up until recently, had a steady job and for whatever reasons recently decided to start robbing banks," said Matthew Kessler, the FBI's lead agent on the case.

Authorities say he apparently is not limiting his crime spree to Philadelphia. They also say he is not attempting to conceal his identity.

A bank surveillance camera at the PNC branch on South Bethlehem Pike in Upper Dublin captured a photo of a man believed to be Gill during a holdup there at about 10 a.m. last Wednesday.

Only the day before, FBI agents say he held up the Wachovia Bank branch at 2 West Girard Avenue in Philadelphia and the TD Bank in the 3900 block of Woodhaven.

He made no attempt to disguise his identity and threatened to have a weapon, according to the FBI.

Last Wednesday, just after 5 a.m., Bristol Township Police were called to the Glen Hollow Apartments at 1701 Newport Road where authorities say Gill stabbed two men, 44 and 53, during an argument. The 53-year-old almost died from a collapsed lung. Authorities say that as he fled the scene, Gill was heard to say that he "Would not be taken alive by cops."

If you take a closer look at the surveillance photo from the bank in Upper Dublin, authorities note Gill appears to have a bloodied left hand. They think it might have been injured during the double stabbing in Bristol. Further, he is believed to be driving a white 2006 Chrysler Town & Country mini-van with the Pa. license plate: GFR-8506.

Authorities are asking for our viewers help in locating Gill before someone else is injured or killed.

"Viewers should know that any information that is given to us in reference can be kept confidential," said Kessler. "There also could possibly be a financial reward."

Authorities urge that if you encounter Gill, do not approach him. Simply call 911 or the local office of the FBI and let them handle it. You do not need to give your name, just your information.
