Philadelphia police were called out to the 5200 block of Arlington Street for the report of an assault around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Police have charged Agee A. Stanton, 53, for attacking his mother. Police on the scene say she had numerous injuries to her face.
She was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable, but guarded condition due to her age.
Stanton lives at the home where the beating took place.
He is facing a number of charges, including aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment and attempted murder.
