Rodney started his day on Monday, February 2nd, 2009 like he always did. He got up at 3:00 a.m. and got ready for work.
As he left just before 4:30 a.m., his mother noticed him talking to a man outside the house located in the 4500 block of North Bouvier Street in Philadelphia's Tioga Nicetown section.
"I didn't really pay it no mind. I just came in and shut the door, after I shut the door that's when I heard the shots," Della said.
Della ran outside.
"He was just laying there and I was hollering and screaming," she said.
Rodney had been shot in the face and died at the scene. His wallet and money were not taken. Unfortunately Della can't describe the man she saw Rodney talking to.
"He had a hood on his head, I couldn't see him," Della said.
Despite the early hour of the killing, Della hopes someone in the neighborhood saw or heard something.
She has put together a $2500 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
"Rodney was a good man it was a senseless killing," Della said.
