Authorities suspected yesterday that Yannarell took his life by ways of a drug overdose and on Friday, the Medical Examiner confirmed that.
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman told Action News that according to the coroner there were no signs of trauma, no gunshot wounds, and no injuries.
"It certainly appears at this point to all of us as though this man's death was caused by the overdose of medication," Ferman said. Officials say Yannarell had OxyContin and Percocet on him.
Before taking his life, Yannarell had learned that authorities were about to paint him as a serial road rage driver after three separate incidents.
The initial one took place last September when police say Yannarell threw a bottle at a motorist while passing him at 70 miles an hour on 422.
The first instance involving a gun was against a driver who got in Yannarell's way on Route 100 back on January 26th. He is accused of firing a shot that shattered the victim's car window but missed him.
Then came the incident that finally brought him into the hands of law enforcement. Yannarell was arrested for shooting a woman in a Ford Focus on Route 422 after she got in his way on April 9. The woman was struck in the leg and elbow and was treated and released from the Hospital of the University of the Pennsylvania.
It had been a tumultuous road for 50-year-old John Yannarell since his arrest on April 9th, after authorities say he shot and injured a motorist who got in his way. He lost his job as an engineer, his teenage daughter who was living with him at the time moved out, and yesterday, authorities were ready to pin more charges on him.
Authorities reveal Yannarell left two suicide notes in his home before taking his life - one to his family saying he loved them and another to D.A. Risa Ferman.
"It was basically saying to us these folks are responsible…blaming the victims, really not taking responsibility for his own actions," Ferman said.
The District Attorney says the letter shows to her that Yannarell had serious, emotional difficulties.
Yannarell leaves behind his wife and his daughter, who is set to graduate to high school in a few weeks.
