Buyback gun program yields suprise

LOS ANGELES (AP) - May 10, 2010

Police say about 2,000 weapons were turned in at several collection stations over the weekend.

Police promised no questions asked and gift cards or prepaid credit cards were given in exchange.

In Hollywood, someone dropped off an apparent hand grenade.

The bomb squad was called in to safely blow it up.

Officials believe it was a practice round painted to look like the real thing.

No one was hurt.
