Westmoreland County detectives say 36-year-old Heather Prinkey, of North Belle Vernon, acknowledged having a sexual relationship with the girl who was 13 when the alleged incidents began in May 2008. Police say they continued through September.
Prinkey is a councilwoman in the tiny borough, and also serves as a girl's softball coach in a local league.
She was jailed on charges including statutory sexual assault before posting bond Friday.
Prinkey's home phone has been disconnected and her attorney did not immediately return a request for comment Friday.
