Fire rips through Southwest Phila. Apt. Bldg.

An early morning fire badly damaged an apartment building in Southwest Philadelphia.

The blaze broke out Monday morning at about 5:00 on the 7000 block of Woodland Avenue.

Fire ripped through a third floor apartment and spit through the roof.

It took about a half hour for firefighters to gain control of the flames.

One person had to be taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.

Investigators are looking for the cause.

The Red Cross is assisting the 5 displaced residents.
