NH summer camp staffer charged with sex assault

KEENE, N.H. - August 26, 2010

Stephen Tecce of Pittsgrove, N.J., has been indicted on three felonies and one misdemeanor.

Officials at Camp Spofford in Spofford say Tecce is a maintenance worker.

Court documents say Tecce approached the girl last month and then led her to an empty nursery at the camp where he attempted to tie her up and sexually assault her. The girl escaped and told her parents.

Tecce is free on bail.

During a court hearing Wednesday, defense attorney Paul Schweizer said Tecce has Asperger's syndrome, a type of autism characterized by difficulties in social interaction.
