Staying fit while down at the shore

AVALON, N.J. - August 27, 2010

In fact, dozens of people are doing just the opposite.

Action News was at a Zumba class in Avalon, N.J. We're told anywhere from 40 to 100 people show up on Tuesdays and Thursdays for this Latin music-inspired fitness class.

Zumba has been taking off in popularity.

Fitness instructor Kim Elisano says people like it because it feels like a dance party.

"I think because people can get out here and have fun with it and they don't feel like they're taking an actual exercise class," Elisano said.

"They don't realize they're doing squats or the lunges when we're doing them."

This class and other fitness programs will continue down the shore for several weeks after Labor Day.
