Mosquito spraying set for areas in Montco

August 30, 2010 Due to positive mosquito sampling, they are planning a West Nile Virus barrier spray at the North Wales Waste Water Treatment Plant in Upper Gwynedd on September 2nd with a rain date of September 9th. They will using Flit 10 EC at 17.5 fluid ounces of diluted material per acre. This will be applied during daylight hours with a backpack sprayer.

The Health Department will continue to work with appropriate agencies to identify, eliminate and treat with larvacide, areas where mosquitoes are breeding.

Residents may contact the Health Department at 610-278-5117 if they are concerned about an area of standing water that may be a breeding area.

The adult mosquito control program will only be used in limited situations to reduce large numbers of adult mosquitoes.
