Last of 5 Del. walk-away inmates in custody

WILMINGTON, Del. - October 14, 2010

The Department of Corrections says 31-year-old Irvin Lewis surrendered to Wilmington police and was returned Wednesday night. Lewis was serving a sentence for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.

Corrections officials say the five walked away from the Wilmington work-release facility Friday night.

The five were being held at the Plummer Community Corrections Center, a work-release center for offenders transitioning back into the community. Corrections officials said offenders are permitted to the leave the facility to go to work, seek jobs or attend approved treatment sessions.
