The shooting occurred Friday evening along the 1900 block of North Warnock Street.
Police say a 35-year-old man was visiting his girlfriend when the woman's ex-boyfriend gained entrance to the home and confronted the man in the kitchen.
The two men began arguing and the ex-boyfriend fired 6 shots at the current boyfriend striking him twice in the chest.
Police rushed the 35-year-old victim to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before 8:00 p.m.
Police, acting on a number of leads from the victim's girlfriend and two others inside the house, learned that the suspect was inside a home down the street.
SWAT was called in and police soon arrested the suspect.
Witnesses positively identified the man.
Police say the woman does have children, but they were not home during the incident.
