Car plows into Bellmawr Apt., family inside

BELLMAWR, N.J. - January 21, 2011

It happened just after 6:15pm at the Bellmawr Manor Apartments at 1020 Kings Highway.

The Bollinger family was in a back bedroom watching TV, when an unwelcomed guest came crashing through their front door; a man in an older model Lexus.

"And all of a sudden, we hear like a crazy thunder and next thing you know I ran out in my living room, and there's a car in my living room, smoking and it's still going and it was just nuts," said Rich Bollinger.

Bollinger says he, his wife Ashley and their 2 year old son were not injured, but they were unable to get out of the house through the front door because of the car. They had to escape through a window.

"And my son's down at his grandma's like in shock right now," said Bollinger.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 40's, was being treated for bumps and bruises.

Police think he may have suffered a seizure and may have a history of them.

Fire Fighters were trying to shore up the doorway to prevent the 2nd floor apartment from collapsing.

"It's demolished, it's a mess and the people upstairs, they're not even home, I don't think they know," explained Bollinger.

The occupants of the 2nd floor apartment, a couple and their two young children were not home when the car crashed through the building.

Bollinger is just grateful that he and his family were not injured. He doesn't know what he is going to do about his apartment and all his stuff, but they will be staying with relatives until they figure it out.
