Poll: NJ Gov. Christie's budget gets mixed reviews

TRENTON, N.J. - March 1, 2011

The Rutgers-Eagleton Poll out Tuesday finds 45 percent are pleased with the $29.4 billion budget Christie proposed last week. Forty-eight percent are displeased and 7 percent are not sure. That's about the same reaction as last year.

Poll director David Redlawsk says voters who are negative about the budget feel it unfairly targets the poor and middle class, working people and the elderly. Those who favor the proposal applaud Christie for trying to cut government spending.

The telephone poll of 912 New Jersey adults was conducted Feb. 24-26 and has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
