NJ school buses damaged while transporting students

DEPTFORD TWP., N.J. - April 15, 2011

The first incident happened just after 2:00pm as a Deptford Township School Bus traveled westbound on Fox Run Road. The bus was struck by several hard objects, shattering the windshield.

The driver was forced off the road and another bus was called to transport the students. The driver suffered minor injuries to his face.

Another Deptford School bus was transporting students from Good Intent School around 3:15pm, when the windshield was shattered by hard objects while students were exiting the bus at Good Intent Road.

Other bus drivers were alerted to the potential danger. One driver witnessing the second attack was able to get a partial plate number and alerted authorities.

Police tracked a vehicle matching the description and later arrested one juvenile and one adult. Both were charged with Reckless Endangerment, Aggravated Assault and Criminal Mischief.

The juvenile was released to his parents. The adult was also charged and released.

The bus drivers suffered minor cuts from flying glass. There were no reports of students being hurt.
