$3,500 reward for help solving deadly hit and run

PHILADELPHIA - April 16, 2011

"And the car proceeded to strike my nephew and continue with stopping," said Paul Dixon.

Paul Dixon still cannot believe that not one, but two motorists failed to stop after running over his nephew, 23 year old Anthony Breslin.

Dixon had a tough task, after getting the phone call from Anthony's mother. She was at the Jersey Shore when she saw news reports of the deadly hit and run, and sensed it was her son when she saw his sneakers lying in the road.

"She had called, and she had seen the sneakers of her son, and she undoubtedly knew it was his," said Dixon. "So I went down to the M.E.'s office and identified my nephew."

On January 17th, just before 4:00am, Anthony was struck by a southbound driver as he crossed Frankford Avenue at Benson Street in Torresdale.

He survived that hit, and was able to tell two women that came to his aid what happened. That's when a second vehicle came barreling along.

"They tried to get up and wave, but one of the girls seen this car wasn't going to stop and pushed her friend out of the way, and pretty much saved her from being hit," explained Santo Montecalvo from the Citizens Crime Commission.

The vehicle struck Anthony, who was still lying in the street, killing him.

Both drivers sped away.

There is no description of the first car. The second vehicle was possibly a silver Honda or Nissan.

There is a $3,500 reward, $2,500 of that was donated by AAA Mid-Atlantic.

If you have any information that might help in the investigation, make the anonymous call to 215-546-TIPS.

"Anybody out there who knows who did this, please bring some closure to the family. Pick up the phone and call," said Montecalvo.

"Of course, people are scared, but we would hope that they would have the courage to come forward and tell us what happened," said Dixon.
