1 dead, 1 injured in Camden car shooting

CAMDEN, N.J. - May 15, 2011

Authorities have identified that fatal victim as 39-year-old Juan Cochran Mendoza.

Another man, a 36-year-old, was shot in the face and was being treated at Cooper Hospital in Camden. His identity is not being released.

Police say the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Saturday near the area of 26th and Mitchell streets.

The two were in a vehicle when they were fired upon.

The car crashed into a fence on the 100 block of 25th Street.

Police say the surviving victim got out of the vehicle and ran before collapsing on the same block.

The two men appear to have come to the area from Phoenix, Arizona, though exact addresses are still being confirmed.
