U.S. Senior Open parking, traffic tie-ups

TOLEDO, Ohio With more than 100,000 guests expected for the Senior Open, the Inverness Club is enlisting their neighbors for help with the crowds. The main parking area is a field on Hill Avenue between Reynolds and Richards roads. You can find signs posted on I-75, US-23 and 475 directing you to the lot. The main entrance is on the back of the course, meaning no need for a shuttle, just park your car and walk right over to the main gate.

Sandy White is the woman behind all of the transportation planning. With 156 golf carts, 70 Inverness caddies manning the parking and a weeks worth of visitors, there's a lot to juggle. But back up plans are in place so there's no shortage of parking spaces.

If you have a disability, scooters are available on a first come first serve basis, and special golf carts will take guests needing assistance from hole to hole.

If you are traveling in the area, expect some traffic tie-ups. Hill Ave between Richards and Reynolds will be down to one lane westbound and Dorr Street between Richards and Reynolds is also down to one lane both westbound and eastbound.

Parking is free and the lots open one hour before the first tee time.

Practice rounds begin Monday morning.
