Several traffic lights were also out around Broad Street and Pattison Avenue.
PECO says that this was a scheduled outage for routine repair work on a circuit.
They hoped to restore service by 7:00 a.m. but power remained out until shortly after 9:00 a.m.
Drivers in the area had a number of delays as PECO worked on the scene.
