Expansion planned for King of Prussia Mall

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - November 29, 2011

"More selection. More stores. More to look at," shopper Sue Colbert of Glenside, Pa. said.

And if you are a fan of "more" as well, the largest shopping mall on the East Coast will soon grow even bigger.

The plan will add 140,000 square feet of indoor shopping heaven.

That will expectedly include 40 new retailers and several restaurants.

It will also close the gap between the mall's two existing wings.

So the days of hoofing it under the covered cross-walk to get from Neiman-Marcus to Macy's will soon be over.

Simon Property Group, the majority owner of the mall, sent Action News a statement saying, "King of Prussia is, by any barometer, one of the top 5 malls in the U.S."

It went on to say that, "An enclosed link between The Court and The Plaza will enhance this project and allow shoppers to seamlessly go from one area to another."

Action News spoke with shoppers who say this mall certainly seems to understand what they want.

"They've got a bunch of different types of stores that anything you're looking for you can find right away," Thom Norton of Phoenixville, Pa. said.

The Simon Group hopes to begin construction by the end of next year.
