Officials: Pets likely perished in Upper Darby fire

UPPER DARBY, Pa. - December 25, 2011

At around 7:00 p.m., a police officer smelled smoke while on patrol and chased the scent to a home on the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue.

The fire department arrived and quickly struck a second alarm.

The home was gutted by the flames before it was brought under control.

Officials say the owners were out at the time of the fire.

However, the fire department believes two cats may have died in the blaze.
