Del. dentist will pay $100K in Medicaid fraud case

WILMINGTON, Del. - February 14, 2012

The News Journal of Wilmington reports Marieve O. Rodriguez admitted Monday to 10 misdemeanor counts of filing false Medicaid reports. In exchange, state prosecutors dropped 19 felony counts of health care fraud. She will also pay a $100,000 fine, $72,000 to the state's Medicaid program and $50,000 to cover the costs of prosecution. She must also close her practice and will lose her license for at least a year.

Rodriguez was charged in August 2010 with submitting fraudulent claims to the state's Medicaid program, usually for procedures on children that were never performed.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on June 20.
