Man, 91, struck and killed in Drexel Hill

The man who was struck and killed by a pickup truck on Monday morning in Drexel Hill has been identified as a 91-year-old man.

Upper Darby Police tell Action News the victim, Alexander Gallen, was hit around 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of State Road and North Lansdowne Avenue.

Investigators say Gallen crossed Lansdowne Avenue against the red light and was struck by a pickup truck making a left-hand turn.

Gallen was rushed to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The truck's driver immediately stopped on location. Police say numerous witness accounts match the driver's story.

No charges have been filed.

This is being investigated as a tragic accident, according to Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.
