Police say Erik Thomas Mahal, 19, of the 300 block of Abbey Road in Berwyn, broke into a home in the 200 block of Homestead Road in the Strafford section of Tredyffrin Twp and stole more than $15,000 worth of jewelry.
It happened during the day on Monday.
Police say Mahal then pawned the stolen jewelry at local shops. Some of the stolen jewelry has been recovered.
Mahal, a student at Drexel University, was arraigned Thursday morning before Magisterial District Judge Thomas Tartaglio of the Devon District. Judge Tartaglio set bail at 10% of $10,000 bail. Mahal posted bail and was released pending a preliminary hearing scheduled at the Devon District Court on Wednesday, March 28th, 2012.
