The accident occurred on the northbound outer lanes of the 7300 block of Roosevelt Boulevard near Cottman Avenue.
Police say a woman believed to be in her early 20s was struck by a late model BMW shortly before 7:00 p.m.
Police say she was crossing the boulevard when she was struck by the northbound car.
Medics rushed the woman to Aria Hospital-Torresdale Division in very critical condition.
She suffered head trauma, a broken neck and collapsed lungs.
The driver of the striking car remained at the scene.
