Man arrested for October triple murder in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - May 9, 2012

25-year-old Arlando Pickett, of the 6800 block of Algard Street, was arrested on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in the murder of 36-year-old Duane Talley, 38-year-old Craig Lassiter, and 33-year-old Mashanda English.

Back on October 4, 2011, police responded to the 3000 block of North 8th Street for a report of shots fired. Upon their arrival, officers found three men and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

Craig Lassiter was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. Duane Talley was shot multiple times in the chest and passed away at Temple University Hospital. Mashanda English succumbed to her injuries on several days later on October 6th, 2011.

A 31-year-old man was shot twice in the right thigh. He had someone drive him to Temple Hospital where he was admitted in stable condition.

Investigators know there were several people on the corner when words were exchanged and someone opened fired. That someone was later identified as Arlando Pickett.

"Some of these guys don't give a damn, they don't care how many people they shoot, They don't care how many are on the street; we don't know if all these folks were intended targets or if there were a couple of people who caught a stray bullet," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said.

Police say they found 40 pieces of evidence including the shell casings on the ground and they believe an assault rifle was used.

Pickett is charged with three counts each of the following charges: Murder, Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and related offenses.
