Philadelphia cop seen punching woman on video ID'd

PHILADELPHIA - October 1, 2012

That officer is Lt. Jonathan Josey, who is assigned to Highway Patrol. Lt. Josey spoke to Action News last week about an unrelated story.

The video, which appears to have been shot after the Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday, was uploaded to YouTube with a date stamp of September 30, 2012.

The beginning of the video shows a number of police officers at 5th and Lehigh in the city as they were responding to a traffic stop.

As the video begins, the woman, identified as Aida Guzman from Chester, Pa., can be seen jumping behind the officers with something in her hand.

A few moments into the video, someone throws a liquid at the gathered officers.

Guzman turns around in that direction, as does Lt. Josey, who is wearing a white shirt.

Lt. Josey then approaches the woman and punches her in the face.

As the video continues, Guzman is seen being taken away by police with blood on her face.

Action News has learned that Guzman was taken into custody on a disorderly conduct charge and was released.

Police claim Guzman threw water and sprayed silly string on the officers.

The Philadelphia Police Internal Affairs unit confirms it is investigating the video.
