It happened around 1:35 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of East Delaware Avenue.
The 24-year-old victim told police he was attacked by four people and one of them may have been armed.
The victim says he was pushed to the ground and the suspects began to repeatedly punch him in the head and face.
The suspects then stole his wallet and cell phone.
The victim was able to break away from the suspects, who then fled the area.
