Pediatrician charged with attempted murder in Delaware County

MIDDLETOWN TWP., Pa. - May 28, 2013

According to state police, Daly and her former partner, a 49-year-old woman, got into an argument in the driveway of Daly's home in the 200 block of North Middletown Road in Middletown Township, Delaware County just before 7:00 p.m. Monday.

The couple had ended their relationship several years ago, but shared custody of their children, an 11-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl.

The victim had just dropped off the 9-year-old at Daly's home and was sitting at the wheel of her black Volvo. State police say Daly became angry and wanted to speak to her son, who was sitting in the front passenger seat.

That's when Daly allegedly pulled a gun and opened fire at the windshield of the car.

The victim was hit by bullets in the face and torso. The 11-year-old boy in the passenger seat and the 9-year-old girl standing near the car were not hurt.

The victim drove herself in the bullet-ridden Volvo to Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media.

She rents a carriage house in Wynnewood, Montgomery County. The homeowner declined to comment.

Daly, who is a specialist in pediatric emergency medicine, was arrested at home last night. The gun was recovered along the road.

The victim, who is not being identified by police, was transferred to Crozier Chester Hospital where she was being treated Tuesday night. The children are in the care of relatives.

Doctor Daly is being held on $2 million bail.

A preliminary hearing was set for June 4th.
