NEWARK, Del. - July 11, 2013

Police say 25-year-old Bully Burton of New Castle, walked into the right lane of eastbound Ogletown Stanton Road, east of Harmony Road, at approximately 5:49 a.m.

As he stood in the lane, police say two vehicles began to slow down and Burton began to walk back towards the right shoulder of the roadway.

Officials say he then abruptly turned around and ran into the left lane, where he was struck by an eastbound 2002 Lincoln LS.

Burton was transported to Christiana Hospital by ambulance, where he was admitted in critical condition.

The driver of the Lincoln was not injured.

No one was charged in this incident.

Troopers have not determined why Burton was in the roadway, but it does not appear that he was trying to cross the road.
