The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Saturday that Tropical Storm Kiko (KEE'-koh) was centered about 475 miles (765 kms) southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula.
It had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph (95 kmh) and was moving northwest at 5 mph (7 kmh).
The center said some additional strengthening could occur Saturday before Kiko weakens beginning late Sunday or Monday.
