Pickup truck hit by tractor trailer on I-76

GLADWYNE, Pa. - September 5, 2013

The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. on the Schuylkill Expressway near the Gladwyne exit.

Police say it began when a tow truck hit a pot hole on the highway, resulting in a flat tire.

The pickup truck was then struck by a tractor-trailer hauling asphalt.

Some of that asphalt was thrown from the truck, hitting another vehicle.

One person was injured and taken to the hospital to be checked out.

One of the drivers involved was cited for excessive speed.

The road was reopened and cleared by 6:30 a.m.
