The new bill was supposed to be ready in early 2011, but printing problems and in smearing delayed its release for two-and-a-half years.
"I would say there is a lot of 'oooh and ahhh' factor in this new design. It's quite beautiful, it certainly incorporates color for the first time into the hundred," said Michelle Scipione of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
The new C-notes will be in circulation soon with many new security features.
The new $100 bill has a blue strip that can't be seen without direct light.
There is also a disappearing image of the Liberty Bell.
It also has a larger portrait of Benjamin Franklin.
The old $100 bill is still good to use. The new bills are designed to last up to 15 years.
The new bills will be available starting this week.
