Philadelphia Police say a man is severely injured after a wall collapsed on top of him while he was doing yard work in the city's Kensington section.

The collapse happened around 10:20 a.m. in the rear of a home along the 2000 block of East Letterly Street.

According to officials, the victim was clearing weeds in his backyard when a concrete cinderblock retaining wall collapsed on top of him.

Arriving police officers managed to free the man.

Paramedics transported the victim, a male believed to be in his 20's, to Hahnemann University Hospital with severe injuries. The victim apparently had no vital signs while in transit but was revived.

Neighbors tell Action News they heard the wall collapse, followed by the victim screaming.

The victim's name has not yet been released.
