2 Penn State students charged with ethnic intimidation

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - December 9, 2013

The Centre Daily Times said Monday that 19-year-old sophomores Eric Hyland and Hayden Grom are accused of spray painting 12 cars, a Dumpster, and a garage outside the Beta Sigma Beta fraternity in State College on Nov. 8.

The vandalism included sexual, graphic and anti-Semitic words and images.

Police said Hyland and Grom confessed to the vandalism. They are charged with ethnic intimidation, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 15 in Bellefonte.

A university spokeswoman said the men will face a disciplinary hearing. She declined to comment on potential sanctions but said the university takes the allegations seriously.
