The accident happened just before 11:30 p.m. on the South Black Horse Pike.
A pedestrian was crossing the road in front of the Boro Hall when he was struck by a car.
Police say the victim became trapped under the vehicle.
They say passersby then grabbed the jack from the trunk and lifted the car so rescue crews could extricate the victim.
He was rushed to Cooper Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
The incident remains under investigation.
