A prank phone call from halfway across the country may be to blame for a serious police incident in South Philadelphia.

SWAT officers responded to reports of an armed juvenile holding family members hostage on the 2300 block of South American Street.

However that wasn't the case at all.

The 16-year-old boy was just playing video games.

Investigators think the people he was playing with online, used the swatting prank to call in the hoax.
