PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- If you are looking for a both economic and eco-friendly way to clean your home, our friends at Pop Sugar say you can leave the whole house spic and span without any harsh chemical and for pennies on the dollar.
And these DIY concoctions or ingredients are common ones you probably already have.
First: plain, white salt.
Did you know you can get grease stains out of just about anything by mixing salt and rubbing alcohol? Also, for basic stains on clothes, rub with salt and wash in cold water.
Next - lemons. From freshening your garbage disposal, to cleaning counter tops, to using the peel to polish stainless steel - they say it's the one cleaner that you don't need to mix with anything and it's 100 percent all-natural.
Add salt to a slice and you can use it de-germ a cutting board too.
Now onto white vinegar. It's a wonder liquid that you can use to clean windows and mirrors and even gets rid of static cling!
For mold issues or that shower buildup, try hydrogen peroxide.
And Pop Sugar also has some fun recipes, including one for a non-toxic dry carpet cleaner that only includes baking soda, salt, lemon, and dish soap.
