Watch the first trailer for 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'

Rebels are out to steal plans for the Death Star in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and fans can finally see the first trailer for the film.

In the trailer, Jyn (Felicity Jones) is tasked with finding out how to prevent a major weapons test. She hardly seems like the type who will back down easily.

"This is a rebellion, isn't it?" she says. "I rebel."

The film features new characters, but Star Wars fans will recognize plenty of familiar sights and sounds. The teaser features AT-AT Walkers, Storm Troopers and even a glimpse at the Death Star.

This stand-alone story is the first among the Star Wars Anthology Series, a "unique series of big-screen adventures that explores the characters and events beyond the core Star Wars saga." The events in Rogue One come after Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope, according to IMDB.

The film will also star Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk and more.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on Dec. 16.
