PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Tuesday is Election Day and Pennsylvania is key in the 2024 presidential election, as its 19 electoral votes offer the largest prize among the swing states expected to determine the Electoral College outcome.

The two candidates deadlocked in Pennsylvania, according to ABC News.

Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate will help determine control of the chamber. There is also a focus on Senate races in New Jersey and Delaware. Democrats currently hold a Senate majority by the narrowest of margins.

Now, it's up to voters.

Delaware's US House race sets stage for potentially historic outcome

Delaware voters are poised to make history as they pick the next occupant of the state's lone seat in the U.S. House.

Democrat state Sen. Sarah McBride would become the first openly transgender person to serve in Congress should she defeat Republican businessman John Whalen III on Tuesday.

Democratic state senator Sarah McBride could also make history with a win against republican John Whalen in the race for Delaware's sole congressional seat.
Democratic state senator Sarah McBride could also make history with a win against republican John Whalen in the race for Delaware's sole congressional seat.

With significant advantages in party registration numbers and campaign contributions, McBride is considered the favorite in the House race. Whalen is a construction company owner and retired state trooper who has little name recognition and is making his first bid for public office. As of mid-October, he reported raising less than $7,000 in campaign contributions.

Whalen declined to appear with McBride for a debate last month at the University of Delaware. His campaign platform centers on stopping illegal immigration at the U.S. southern border, reducing government spending and balancing the federal budget.

Democrats have held Delaware's U.S. House seat since 2011.

Will Elon Musk impact who wins Pennsylvania? Experts weigh in.

Elon Musk, the world's richest person, has built a vast campaign machine in support of former President Donald Trump, including a multi-billion dollar door-knocking operation, a social media megaphone and a $1 million sweepstakes for battleground voters.

Despite its wide-ranging scope, the operation holds a clear focus: Pennsylvania.

It's unclear, however, whether Musk's splashy, deep-pocketed venture will meaningfully impact the outcome of the race in the critical state, according to experts in campaign finance and electoral politics who spoke with ABC News.

While Musk's campaign may impact the outcome in Pennsylvania, it's ultimately impossible to determine the precise effect in the fog of a hectic campaign season, the experts said.

"There's absolutely no way to know," Robin Kolodny, a professor of political science at Philadelphia-based Temple University. He pointed to the difficulty of isolating Musk's impact amid a slew of other variables. But the outcome of the election may shape the way that observers look back on Musk's campaign.

"We'll find out," Kolodny said.

Andy Kim and Curtis Bashaw face off in a New Jersey Senate race

New Jersey voters are deciding between Democratic U.S. Rep. Andy Kim and hotel developer Curtis Bashaw, a Republican, in the race to fill the Senate seat occupied until recently by Democrat Bob Menendez, who resigned following afederal bribery conviction.

The Senate race has attracted attention because of Democrats' razor-thin majority. There's little margin of error for the party in a state like New Jersey, which hasn't elected a Republican to the Senate in more than 50 years.

The contest pits Kim, a three-term House member from New Jersey's 3rd District, against Bashaw, a first-time candidate and businessman from Cape May. Four others including Green, Libertarian and Socialist party candidates are on the ballot.

Also up for grabs are all of New Jersey's 12 U.S. House seats. Among them, the 7th District, which stretches from the Delaware River and the Pennsylvania line to the central part of the state, with a slice of the New York suburbs, is perhaps the most closely watched. There, Republican Tom Kean Jr. is running for reelection against former Working Families alliance official Sue Altman, a Democrat. New Jersey's House delegation has 10 Democrats and three Republicans.

Democrats currently hold a Senate majority by the narrowest of margins.

Democrats are hoping to extend their decades-long hold on the Delaware governor's office in Tuesday's election, while the Republican candidate is hoping for an upset that would offset Democratic control of the state Legislature by putting a member of the opposite party in the state's top executive office.

The contest pits Democrat Matt Meyer against the GOP's Michael Ramone.

Democrat Matt Meyer and Republican Mike Ramone are both running to replace outgoing Governor John Carney.
