NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- One thousand middle school students in Philadelphia took time Tuesday to consider a career.
The school district held a STEM expo on Temple's campus.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Franklin Institute astronomer Derrick Pitts talked to the students about his job.
He encouraged them to try a profession in his field and said it's good to love science.
The goal of the expo was to introduce the kids to jobs that focus on the STEM model.
