Shelter Me: Le Cat Café

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's first ever cat café offers cats with mats - which is the opportunity to work out with some adoptable felines.

"There's lot of things you can do with cats. Instead of walking in and hanging out with them we do lots of events, and cats and mats is one of them," says Kathy Jordan, the creator of Green Street Rescue and Le Cat Café

And it's just as it sounds, yoga surrounded by friendly felines.

"Cats are naturally curious and they love open space. If you know cats you know that every time you put something new on the floor they have to go investigate it, so as soon as we put the mats on the floor, they're on the mats," says private yoga instructor Katharine Livingston.

It's an interactive experience, with the cats playing around you and sometimes participating in the CAT-arungas.

"They like to check out what you're doing. They like to hang out on the mats with us while we're doing yoga, occasionally they'll grab a ponytail or climb up on a back," says Livingston.

Green Street Rescue took the strays off the street and opened Le Cat Café for casual meet and greets.

"If you're looking to adopt, it's a great way to meet cats and see who you bond with, see what the personality is like and see if they like you as much as you like them," Jordan says.

Dustin would do well in a home with other cats and children.

"He is very social, very outgoing, made himself at home immediately," says Jordan.

Cleo was found pregnant in West Philly. Now that her kittens have been adopted, she's ready for her forever home.

"She would be great in a house as a single cat. She is very sweet, likes to snuggle with you," Jordan says.

Nutmeg is very social.

"She loves to play. She would do great as the only cat in the house, but she's great with other cats too," says Jordan.

Erica is an English Tabby.

"She's a gentle sweet lady," Jordan says.

Athena was found terribly wounded on the streets when Green Street Rescue found her. Now she's back to full health. She loves soft places to nap and would enjoy a quiet home.
