It all started around 6 p.m. Saturday 400 block of Highland Avenue in Pottstown.
The man was barricaded inside the home with a gun. He then managed to escape just before 1 a.m. Sunday and tried to run down police surrounding the home.
A police chase came to an end in the parking lot of the Wachovia Bank in West Norriton.
Police say the man drove his Hummer towards police and they opened fire.
He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
