Foxy Brown still denied implant repair trip

NEW YORK (AP) - January 21, 2008

Foxy has asked for permission to leave jail so she can travel from New York to California to have her electronic ear implant fixed. But acting state Supreme Court Justice Meliss Jackson isn't ready to grant the request without looking into the matter further.

Jackson says she wants proof to support the claim made by the rapper's lawyers that Brown risks deafness unless she gets the implant reprogrammed and repaired.

The district attorney's office isn't crazy about the idea, either. Assistant D.A. Cindy Chung says Brown has offered no proof that the repair to the implant has to be done in Cali.

And just because the rapper may want the repair done on the Left Coast, doesn't mean she has the right to demand that she be allowed to go. For now, the judge has ordered Brown's lawyer to turn over her medical records to the D.A. Foxy Brown is serving a one-year sentence for violating probation.

She was put on probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault of a pair of manicurists at a Manhattan nail salon in August of 2004.
