A makeover for the moon rocket
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - January 31, 2008 A
huge Saturn Five rocket has been renovated and will be dedicated
today at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Hunstville, Alabama.
The 363-foot-long Saturn Five carried American astronauts to the
moon nearly four decades ago. Workers had to clear out raccoons,
birds and opossums that were living inside the rocket before the
renovation could begin. One of the original moon project workers
says the Saturn looks brand new. The rocket's renovation is the
cornerstone of a 23-plus million dollar project to preserve the
rocket and expand the state-owned museum.
