Man could face death if covicted of killing baby

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - May 13, 2008 Michael Blakey pleaded not guilty to murder charges during Tuesday's arraignment. Prosecutors announced during the court appearance that they will seek capital punishment.

Blakey is accused of slamming 7-month-old Khayr Cash into a concrete floor June 4 at a Scranton apartment. He later died in a hospital.

The baby was the son of Blakey's girlfriend's roommate.

Blakey was captured in January in North Carolina after a traffic stop. Police ran his fingerprints through an FBI database and discovered he was wanted in Pennsylvania.
